About The Host
Alma Treb is a multicultural, multiracial, and multilingual French Caribbean artist, educator, and author. As a biracial individual, she has experienced the challenges of racial identity, colorism, and cultural divides firsthand. Through her art, Alma addresses these deeply personal and universal issues, creating compelling works that celebrate diversity while questioning society's fixation on differences in skin tone and cultural backgrounds.
Her vibrant paintings focus on figures from marginalized and underrepresented communities, capturing their stories, dreams, struggles, and creativity. Alma's work features intricate facial expressions, textured hair, and powerful Afrocentric shapes and symbols, all brought to life with bold colors, unbroken lines, and a variety of artistic techniques. Drawing inspiration from pop art, pointillism, uninterrupted line work, and acrylic portraiture, her pieces often integrate unique mediums such as epoxy, spray paint, street art, and digital tools.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Alma Treb is the founder of L'Expression Creative Studios Inc., a multicultural paint party company, art center, and event space based in Southern California. The studio is built on an "Arts in Diversity" mission, providing inclusive creative experiences that celebrate cultural representation and bring people together through the power of art.
Alma also explores cultural themes through storytelling for children. Her debut book, "A Bull in the Air," was published in May 2020 and introduces young readers to the inspiring adventures of Mr. Moo, a character who learns to embrace his identity and appreciate the differences in others. The book is the first in a series that encourages self-discovery, acceptance, and compassion.
